Christmas eggnog
Egg Nog. That is what I crave today, since it is one of flavors that says Christmas, to me. I am not picky- it doesn’t have to be home made, but I do like it warm with a sprinkle of nutmeg. Eggnog flavored things will do in pinch. Eggnog milkshake, cookies, whatever, but my favorite is the old fashioned drink. It makes you feel cozy -like sitting beside a fireside, even if all you have is a space heater… and with the temperatures as frigid as they have been in Ohio, we need all the coziness and warmth we can get!

How did it start? Eggnog history

Eggnog, in the 1800s was nearly always made in large quantities and nearly always used as a social drink. It was commonly served at holiday parties and it was noted by an English visitor in 1866, “Christmas is not properly observed unless you brew egg nogg for all comers; everybody calls on everybody else; and each call is celebrated by a solemn egg-nogging…It is made cold and is drunk cold and is to be commended.”

“Solemn egg-nogging”- that sounds fabulous!
You could try to make your own, and this recipe sounds like a good one. I just buy a carton at my local grocery because I am lazy and I have enough to do during the holidays 🙂
