Garden Sanctuary

You who walk,
Maybe with troubled thoughts,
Come, enter here and rest;
And may the sweet serenity of growing things,
And the heavenly,peace
Be mirrored in they soul.
-Doxis M. Palmer

Yesterday, we took a walk in a public garden, my husband and I. We wandered slowly through beauty that we did nothing to create. The sun shone softly, with blue and white skies overhead, the late spring greens of leafy trees dappled the pathways. We walked through gardens of others planning, and vicariously entered their dreams of pleasure and delight. It was with new found vision that we were able to enjoy the fern gardens, the herbal fragrances, and the laughing waters of the constructed stream through the rock garden. All was enjoyed and all left without care for the work or effort such gardens require.

The only regret: that one would not,upon sudden whim, walk out the door to enjoy such pleasure alone. I returned to my own garden, inspired.
