Some people feel happy when they shop… that isn’t me; but I do feel happy when shops give me a good experience. I most often buy groceries @ Krogers, but more regularly now I have been shopping Whole Foods Market. It is as enjoyable as grocery shopping gets. The clerks all are upbeat about giving me service and trying out the samples often induces me to buy something totally new. I liked it so well, I bought a little stock in the company.
Maybe it’s because I like good produce, or maybe it’s the bright colors and abundance, but I love getting fresh fruits and vegetables there. They have things I can’t get anywhere else, and when I find something like that it makes the trip special. Like the time I found fresh pomegranate seeds sold ready to eat in the prepared fruit section. Or fresh figs- there is a treat for an Ohioan!
I often try to get some vegetable tempura, freshly made on the spot. Not one for going out to eat, this is my substitute.
Now if they could just bottle up that “store clerk cheer” and market it to all the other places I shop…. it would produce lots more “positive energy days” for me, like a visit to their store did this week!
