I love self-help, non-fiction books. This year I decided to reignite the fire in decluttering my house, so you can see the attraction this particular book would have for me. Also, I have always admired the Japanese ability to refine design and declutter their environments.

So, next on my reading list:

After I read it I’ll let you all know what I thought of it, and which changes I am implementing, if any.

If you have read it, or join with me in reading it soon- let me know your opinions about the book or its ideas in the comments.

A combo of inspiration and practical steps makes this a real boon to those who wish to organize and declutter their home. I used many of the methods, especially on utilizing boxes and folding to give long term order to my clothing and linens. The book helped me fundamentally change both attitudes and habits.

On the other hand, the full implementation was more than I was ready for, so I did not go “full-Marie-Kondo”. I think the book is worth owning in order to periodically do a deeper dive into a free and orderly lifestyle.

It did prove to be the most truly life-changing and helpful of all the things I have tried. I think putting the methods into action brings an accumulation of helpful habits into progress in decluttering and maintaining an organized home.

I give it five stars for that reason.
